Rachael Cowan is based in Wellington, and is about to undertake a big career step – made possible by her National Certificate in Adult Education and Training (Level 5) from SIT.
A successful business coach and company trainer for a Government department, Rachael heard about SIT from another coach, and they both enrolled. “I thought it was great to have a zero fees option. I probably could not have completed the study at this particular time if not for the zero fees,” she says.
While the adjustment to self-directed learning was “a learning curve” in itself, Rachael has nothing but praise for the programme and facilitators “The support has been awesome. I can't say enough about how great the facilitators are at SIT. They have been extremely motivating and hold you to a high standard.”
Rachael loved the assignments, and the collaborative nature of online learning. “With Blackboard you have access to other students completing the same paper which gives you the opportunity to see what others think and bounce off their ideas and perspectives.”
Her career is taking off too, as she has just taken on a team leader role with a coaching and training component at a private company. “It is a big career step for me and was the goal I was working toward when I commenced my study. I have lots of practical experience in the training field but feel now with the qualification I can prove it.”
“My interviewer recognised SIT and commented that it is a quality institute. I felt like this also helped my chances! I think this role will keep me happy and very busy for a while to come. I would like to look at progressing to the next level in Adult Education and Training as well....perhaps next year and definitely with SIT!”
Congratulations on the new role Rachael, and we look forward to having you back at SIT in the future!
