After completing high school, Dinah-Lee Miller went on to achieve a business degree, but she still felt unsure of her career path. Dinah-Lee’s interest in massage started as a hobby at home. “I soon realised through feedback from family and friends it was a passion I wanted to pursue,” she says.
Dinah-Lee enrolled in the Bachelor of Therapeutic and Sports Massage at SIT in 2023.
During her first year (level 5), Dinah-Lee initially found the course material challenging, but she soon discovered a love for anatomy which made completing assignments and studying for exams less stressful.
“Level 5 at SIT for me was a terrific choice; with smaller class sizes it allowed me to build a connection with my classmates and the tutors.”
Dinah-Lee says the programme tutors played a huge role in helping her to discover the passion she has for massage. “They have a wealth of knowledge and a true dedication to fostering a quality learning environment.”
The programme gives students different opportunities to massage at sports and community events; Dinah-Lee enjoys this, adding it’s very helpful in applying the skills she learns in class.
Now in her second year of study, Dinah-Lee finds she is enjoying the feeling of expanding her knowledge base and adopting new techniques in massage therapy.
Dinah-Lee’s goal is to combine a love for sport and massage by working alongside sport clubs. “I intend to have my own clinic and an established professional reputation in my community,” she says.
