Michelle Miller is a nurse educator at Southern Institute of Technology. Prior to SIT Michelle worked in numerous nursing roles within Waikato Hospital, caring for patients in a variety of clinical settings, across the human lifespan. Michelle has an interest in and enjoys the challenges of working with and advocating for paediatric patients and their families. Michelle’s main academic interests lie in the development of critical thinking by student nurses, enabling them to combine theoretical knowledge and develop skills, to make an informed clinical decision, then create a plan of care to enable the patient to have positive health outcomes. Michelle intends to focus her research on methodologies to assist struggling nursing students on clinical placement gain the required competency, knowledge and skills.
