Artistic creativity abounded recently at SIT Gore Campus, when Art Tutor, Julie Duncan, arranged a special one-day workshop for full-year, part-time art students in the Art for Leisure programme at the campus.

Southlander Lyn Henry, a contemporary artist who specialises in pastels, delivers art workshops locally, and as far away as Australia. Lyn spent the day at the campus on 23rd September, "Exploring Soft Pastels with Mixed Media" with the art students. The workshop aims were to fully explore how to combine two media - soft pastels and acrylics, how to update skills in drawing both contour and blind contour, and in colour mixing. The artistic evidence at the end of the day reflected the success of the workshop; Lyn’s lessons had been well received.

Funding for the workshop was provided by Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora and students were able to attend free of charge. In the feedback, students commented on the wonderful opportunity to spend a day learning from such a well-recognised, talented artist.
