Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Ramsay in a new role as SIT Community Advisor.

The new position is part of a ministerial directive to ensure all Te Pūkenga business divisions have a dedicated Advisor.

SIT Operations Lead, Daryl Haggerty, stated Mr Ramsay’s purpose in the Community Advisor role is to guarantee a strong local voice in SIT processes and to ensure that the implementation of local financial viability plans reflect the region’s needs and priorities. He added it was important to note that the role is a support and advisory role, without decision-making authority; the Advisor’s contribution is to guide and advise with a regional perspective in mind.

“Chris brings a wealth of experience to the role; as the Chief Executive of the Invercargill Licensing Trust and someone who is deeply connected across the Southland region, his local insight and networks will be of great value to us. I am looking forward to working alongside him in his new capacity.” Mr Haggerty said.

Over more than a decade, Mr Ramsay has contributed to both the Hospitality Advisory group and more recently, the Business Consultative Group. It has been in these roles “I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing firsthand the passion that exists across all areas of SIT,” Mr Ramsay said.

“I’m really looking forward to supporting Daryl and his team on returning SIT to full autonomy. The success of SIT, particularly since the Zero Fees initiative, has been a cornerstone of driving vibrancy within our community.”

Mr Ramsay starts in the role this month.
