In the March 2026 results from the Nursing Council, the 100% pass rate from SIT Bachelor of Nursing (BN) graduates put them more than 10% above the national average of 88.2 % for registered nurses.
The state final examination - held in March, July and November each year - is the essential last step for nursing graduates, allowing them to practise as nurses in New Zealand, and SIT Nursing graduates remain constantly among the best in New Zealand with their exam results. The latest result is consistent with last year’s high pass rates.
In March 2025, SIT’s Registered Nurse pass rate was 100%, while the national pass rate was 87.1%. July 2025 pass rates were perfect scores - 100% for both groups of nurses against national pass rates of 97.1%. for Enrolled Nurses and 96.5% for Registered Nurses. In November 2025, SIT’s Enrolled Nurse pass rate was 100% compared to a national pass rate of 87.4%, with the Registered Nurse pass rate at 98.5%, remaining above the national pass rate of 97.4%.
Karyn Madden, SIT’s Academic Lead, Nursing and Master of Nursing Programme Manager, is proud of the results, and acknowledges both students and tutors in showing diligence and hard work to produce the top results.
“The whole School of Nursing team is invested in the success of every one of our students; we want each Nurse to be well-rounded and workforce ready as they enter their first roles, and we go to great lengths to support each student in achieving their goals while with our team. We congratulate all our graduates on their wonderful results.”
