Nga Toi Level 3 introduces tauira to artistic media or Kaupapa Toi providing the opportunity to gain a broad range of introductory skills and knowledge across Kaupapa Toi art forms.

The aim of this programme is to prepare akonga who can contribute to Nga Toi projects, under some supervision. They will also have the skills and knowledge to work in, or contribute to the toi sector, Including supporting whanau, hapu, iwi, and hapori; with their Kaupapa Toi development and aspirations.

Konae Ako 1 Overview: Toi Raupapa - Organisation: Tauira credited with this konae ako will demonstrate the principle of Toi Raupapa and begin to learn about the kawa, tikanga, studio management and creative processes required for creating toi work.

Konae Ako 2 Overview: Toi Iro – Exploration: Tauira credited with this konae ako will apply the principle of Toi Iro and begin to learn about their own identity. They will also explore the origins of a creative work/artist, while gaining a better understanding of own practice.

Konae Ako 3 Overview: Toi Awe – CreativeProcess: Tauira credited with this konae ako will apply the principle of Toi Awe and begin to learn about creative processes and practices and project planning.

Konae Ako 4 Overview: Toi Hanga – Creation: Akonga Tauira of Toi Hanga to create toi work informed by appropriate concepts, ideas, techniques and skills. Toi Hanga involves the ‘hands-on’ processes that occur during the creating of toi work.

 

There are two options, please enrol for the option that suits you.
  • Raranga/Weaving is on Monday 3.30 - 8.30pm
  • Māori Visual Art is on Thusday 5-9pm
