Dr Sanjeev Acharya

Dr Sanjeev Acharya is Programme Leader for the Master of Applied Management (Research) programme, and works as a tutor for many business papers. Dr Acharya has worked in several academic and corporate institutions in New Zealand and Nepal, earning his PhD from the University of Waikato in 2018 with a thesis titled 'Improving corporate governance in Nepalese financial institutions to promote growth and performance’. He has also worked on multiple external projects, including with the Road Transport Forum and Hamilton City Council. 

Dr Acharya’s current research focuses on corporate governance, bank efficiency, credit risks, and sustainable finance. In addition to publishing his own research, he has worked as a guest editor of the International Journal of Financial Studies for a special issue on "Banks and Profitability of Banks" and is a reviewer for the journal Sustainability and E-learning and digital media. He also supervises learners doing post graduate research projects and theses.
