Soroptimist International exists to inspire action and create opportunities to transform the lives of women and girls.
The Betty Loughhead Soroptimist Scholarship was established in 1987 to honour Betty Loughhead, the first New Zealand International President of Soroptimist International and champion of second chance education for women. The scholarship provides financial assistance to women who are studying for a qualification to:
- Enter or re-enter the workforce;
- Change occupation;
- Seek advancement in their chosen career.
Who can apply?
Women who are:
- New Zealand citizens;
- Enrolled in an NZQA approved tertiary education programme, undertaken in NZ;
- Able to use the scholarship for study in the 2027 academic year.
