  • Setting up a basic vocal PA (with sub)
  • Ability to plug in and use FX
  • Ability to plug in and use compression
  • Introduction to mixing
  • Introduction to larger PA's
  • Sound theory, types of signals, equipment
  • Speakers and microphones, mixing boards, amplifiers and crossovers
  • Equalisation, effects, compressors and gates
  • Gain stucture
  • PA hook up, cabling, coiling leads, setting up microphones
  • Powered speakers - understanding of clients own equipment
  • Buying of equipment - advice on upgrading
  • Electrical systems safety

To be eligible for domestic cost (ACE funding), students must be:

  • A New Zealand resident or citizen
  • Not studying full-time
  • Over 16
  • Applicants for whom English is a second language must meet IELTS (or equivalent) Level 5.5 with no band lower than 5.0.
