Trena joined SIT in 2012 as a lecturer in the School of Nursing. She qualified as a Dental Therapist in 1988 and worked in school dental clinics throughout the Southland region. After completing a Bachelor of Nursing in 2005, she specialised in Gerontological Nursing and completed a Master of Nursing through Massey University, New Zealand. At SIT she teaches in the undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programmes. Her teaching areas cover; Biosciences for Nurses, Fundamentals of Nursing, Oral Health, Professional Practice, Gerontology and Aged Care Nursing.
