Study Hairdressing & Hair Design at SIT

Mother of three young children and Southern Institute of Technology (SIT Salon Support student, Morgan Wait-Carrodus has come a long way from her days as a disinterested secondary school pupil.
She started her journey towards a new career, having spent time at home with her children who range in age from 11 to 3.
 After earning her diploma in Beauty Therapy, Morgan decided to further compliment her qualification by studying hairdressing, and fell in love with the career choice.
“I was top student for my class, which was something I never thought I would achieve,” she says
From year one, Morgan was required to find work experience for at least three hours a week. She was fortunate to be given a chance at Trimbles, whose team have helped her learn what salon duties are really about.
“ I gained an incredible amount of experience.
“I was able to bring in my own clients to further my practice.”
Morgan was asked to stay for her year two work experience, she worked hard and learnt all she needed to, and was offered the opportunity to stay on through her apprenticeship.
“I have been able to join the Free Haircuts and Services for Southlanders events, held twice a year, donating my time giving free haircuts.
“I have also been able to go to schools and educate on haircare and promote SIT to lower income families - $5 haircuts are very appealing.” 
During Year Two, Morgan was able to compete in the SIT Photographic Competition in both the Female Cut and Colour, and the Anything Goes categories. She won both. 
 “To be the first person to win both awards was amazing,” says Morgan.
As an adult student, Morgan has found her dream career, with SIT helping her to reach the goals she has set for herself.
“Each tutor has played a part and I am so grateful.
“ It has been hard work, but the saying goes "if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life." 
“This quote is so true to my journey. I cannot imagine doing anything else. “
