Abstract

This research explores the changing environment of workplace communication and the communication skills required of business graduates. The growth of technology has led to a preference for virtual communication, raising concerns about the decrease of traditional communication skills and the effect on multigenerational interactions. Through a Delphi technique with business experts, this research identified key communication skills for graduates, including self-awareness, empathy, and the ability to adapt communication style and channel to the audience and context. The findings highlight the need for educators to embed best practices in communication, including verbal and non-verbal skills, emotional intelligence, and the effective use of technology. Further research could explore the challenges and ethical considerations of technology-mediated communication.

Keywords: communication; interpersonal skills; business etiquette; effective communication channels.
